About Joshua

Joshua Lee Snyder
October 30, 2000 – October 3, 2018

Joshua Snyder was born October 30, 2000.  He had two siblings – a twin sister and an older sister.  As a child, Josh was always smiling.  He loved to laugh and have fun.  He enjoyed movies and video games.  He was definitely screen addicted.  He liked climbing trees, riding his bike, and skateboarding.  He played various sports in elementary school:  baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and diving.  He also competed in triathlons and won several.  He spent hours playing basketball with his father and friends in the driveway.  However, his favorite sport was wrestling.

Joshua began wrestling in middle school.  He wrestled for the Clarksburg Sports Association and the Elite Forces of the Montgomery County Wrestling Club.  He was an accomplished wrestler and placed in many tournaments.  As an 8th grader, he finished seventh in the prestigious Capital Area Wrestling League.  In 9th grade, Joshua began wrestling for Northwest High School.  As a 9th grader, his record was 17-1.  Fourteen of the wins were pins.

Joshua became an outstanding student athlete at Northwest High School in Germantown, Maryland.  In addition to wrestling, he played football and ran cross country and track.  He was a member of the Academy of Finance and the National Art Honor Society.  Joshua was tragically killed in an auto accident on October 3, 2018, while traveling to his senior internship.  Joshua was so excited about the internship that on the day he died, he told a teacher, “I’m so lucky to have this opportunity.”

Joshua had big dreams.  He wanted to attend Penn State University.  Just weeks before the accident, he wrote that he dreamed of becoming a physical therapist or physical trainer and having a career where he was able to help others.  While Joshua’s dream was cut short, his family’s wish is to uphold his vision of helping others by assisting other students achieve their dreams.
